Privacy Policy

This website is operated by CarpentryBoys Inc., a general contractor based at 120 Vineberg Drive, Hamilton, Ontario. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the site, why we collect it, who we share it with and how you can see or correct it.

We handle personal information in line with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the federal law that applies to private businesses in Ontario. If anything here is unclear, email info@carpentryboys.ca and we will explain it.

When you fill in our contact or quote form, we collect your name, phone number, email address, the city or address of the project, a description of the work and any photos or files you choose to upload. If you call or email us directly, we keep a record of that conversation and the details you give us.

Our web host automatically records basic technical data for every visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, in server logs used for security and troubleshooting. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies on this site.

We use the details you send to respond to your enquiry, book a site visit, prepare a quote and, if you hire us, run your project: scheduling trades, applying for permits on your behalf, invoicing and honouring the warranty. Photos help us understand the space before we visit.

We do not use your information for any other purpose without asking first. We won’t add you to a mailing list unless you opt in, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.

A small number of service providers process information for us. Our website is hosted by Vercel, and messages sent through the contact form are delivered to our inbox by Resend, an email delivery service. Both are based in the United States, so your information may be stored or processed there and may be subject to the laws of that country.

If you hire us, we share only what is needed with the people involved in your project: designers and engineers preparing drawings, your municipality’s building division for permits, licensed trades working on site, and Financeit if you choose to apply for financing. Each receives only the details required for their part of the work.

Some pages show project videos hosted on YouTube and a Google Maps view of our service area. These are provided by Google. When a video is played or a map loads, Google may set cookies and collect information about your device and how you use the content, under Google’s own privacy policy.

If you prefer not to share that information with Google, you can avoid playing videos and loading maps, or block third-party cookies in your browser. The rest of the site works without them.

If you contact us and do not go ahead with a project, we keep your enquiry for 24 months in case you come back to us, then delete it.

If you become a client, we keep project records, contracts, invoices, permits and photos for as long as we need them to honour the 2-Year Material and Workmanship Warranty and to meet tax and legal record-keeping requirements, which generally means at least seven years after the project ends. Records are then securely deleted or shredded.

We never sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we don’t share it with marketers. The only time we disclose it outside the providers and project partners above is when the law requires us to, for example in response to a valid court order.

Access to enquiries and client files is limited to the owners and the people who need it to run your project. Our email and file storage accounts are password-protected, and the website is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.

No system is completely secure. If we ever become aware of a breach that creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as PIPEDA requires.

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Send your request to info@carpentryboys.ca or by mail to CarpentryBoys Inc., 120 Vineberg Drive, Hamilton, ON. We will respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

We will update this page if the way we handle personal information changes, for example if we add a new service provider. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
