Service Areas Across The GTA, Hamilton And Niagara
Two owners, two home bases: one covers Hamilton, Halton and Niagara, the other covers Brampton, Peel and Wellington-Dufferin.
CarpentryBoys Inc. is a general contractor working in 21 communities across Southern Ontario, from Vaughan, Etobicoke, Peel and Halton to Hamilton, Waterloo Region, Brant, Oxford, London and Niagara. Each city has its own permit office, second-unit rules and conservation authority, and we work with all of them, from Brampton basements to London century homes.

Do renovation rules really change from one city to the next?
Yes. The Ontario Building Code is provincial, but zoning, second-unit registration, garden-suite sizes, tree permits, heritage districts and driveway rules are set by each municipality, and conservation authorities add their own permits near creeks and valleys.
A legal basement in Brampton is registered with the City as a two-unit dwelling; in Hamilton it falls under the City’s additional dwelling unit rules and, in some wards, rental licensing. Oakville and Mississauga have infill controls in older lakeside neighbourhoods, Caledon has escarpment and moraine approvals, and Guelph and St. Catharines each set their own detached-unit limits.
Each city page sets out the local permit office, the bylaws that matter for renovations, and the neighbourhoods we know, with dedicated pages for each service in that city.
